My 30th Birthday Bucket List + Ideas for Celebrating Milestone Birthdays During Quarantine πŸŽ‚ πŸ₯³

When the Corona Virus Pandemic hit us earlier this year, imposing limitations of all sorts, not much seemed possible, let alone celebrations. While virtual gatherings have become the ‘norm’ these days, between tik tok videos, zoom call meetings, and online learning, it can all start to feel rather mundane and lacking in the originality department. Reeling from my own personal losses from 2019, I set out to accomplish some major goals this year with my 30th birthday serving as motivation. If you’re looking for ideas for celebrating a milestone birthday (during quarantine) check out my bucket list!

  1. Work on your credit

This may not be the sexiest item on the list, but it is the most important, yet often neglected, especially in the black community. The truth is, improving your credit score can position you to live the life that you want. While I am still on my journey, these three things have SIGNIFICANTLY increased my credit score:

  • Experian Boost – allows utility bills to count towards increasing credit scores. While it has taken some time to reflect, my credit has boosted.
  • Secured Credit Card– Once upon a time, I feared credit cards like the plague but that was because I didn’t understand how to properly use them. By signing up for a secured credit card, my credit score soared 48 points.
  • Paying Debts– I was once advised that paying a debt would have no effect on my credit score. That was all I needed to justify my delinquency, however, I realized by paying my debt, my credit score would jump an additional 22 points.

2. Take a lesson/ course.

Purchasing my first car was a major accomplishment this year but in order for that to happen, I had to overcome my fear of driving. After years of procrastinating, I finally decided to invest in myself and take professional (refresher) driving lessons! They have helped tremendously and prior to my last lesson, I purchased my first vehicle! If you’ve always wanted to finish courses towards a degree or certificate, there’s no better time than now. Due to the corona virus, many school’s are offering free courses, which is even more of an incentive to get it done.

3. Plan a photo shoot!

One way to remember a milestone birthday that will never get old is to plan a photo shoot and with sites like Instagram and Pinterest, the inspiration is endless. You don’t have to break the bank either. All you really need is a cute outfit, a great background, and a friend (or tripod) and you’re all set. For my 30th birthday, I went to an adorable, outdoor spot called the Wine Garden for drinks and plenty of photo-ops.

4. Have an intimate gathering!

While large gatherings are frowned upon (for good reason) we can still have small ones, granted all precautions are observed. I rounded up a few of my close friends for a backyard shindig for my 30th and it was everything I’d hoped it would be.
