Sailing Through NYC in a Derek Heart Duster ⛵🗽

When it comes to affordable fashion, honey, there ain’t no shame in my game! I take pride in being able to dress well on a dime. The earliest display of this was my eight year old self fishing through my mother’s trash to retrieve the black handbag she had discarded while doing some spring cleaning. As the saying goes, one (wo)man’s trash is another (wo)man’s treasure!

Over the years, I’ve scored everything from $1 skirts and blouses, to $5 Just Fab heels. It’s not that I can’t afford to spend a little more on my clothing. Believe me, I do when I feel so inclined. It’s not always about big labels because how many of us know, you can also look tacky dripping from head-to-toe in Gucci? I honestly just enjoy the ability of pulling together an affordable look with ease and the compliments that I get in return make me feel as if I was rocking a label.

Take this Derek Heart Duster for example, I had been eyeing it every time I went into Forman Mills and didn’t have a clue of what I would wear with it. That was until my bestie told me the weather would be well over 90 degrees on our day trip to NYC last weekend! It was the perfect little piece to brave the heat as we sailed the East River on a boat tour. The price tag of $9.99 wasn’t bad either. To complete this look, I paired it with a pair of black shorts, lace up sandals and a neon yellow, crossbody bag. What do you think?
