Growing up in a black household, there were a few haircare products I can remember that were trusted to maintain my tresses. Among them was Luster’s Pink Oil Moisturizer Hair Lotion. I know y’all remember getting your hair slayed with some of this! It always made my hair feel really soft and not to mention, it smelled amazing! Given my history with this product, I was thrilled when I found out that I was one of the winners of Luster’s #PinkTakeover.

Five lucky women were selected to ride along on the #PinkTakeover party bus along with YouTube Vlogger Naturally Temi and Luster’s Manager-at-Large, Resa B. Luster! We stopped at three Philly Rite Aid Stores to celebrate the launch of Luster’s new Shea Butter Coconut Oil line. Along the way we became more acquainted with one another, answered trivia questions for a chance to win Rite Aid gift cards, and turned up with Philly’s own DJ Diamond Kuts!
Not only was the party bus tons of fun, I enjoyed learning more about the company who’s products have been a staple in many black households for generations. Resa’s grandfather founded the company in 1957 and it has remained a black-owned, family-run business ever since! In addition to being a family-run business, their line is inclusive of everyone in the family too! From their children’s products to the men’s haircare and beard line, there’s something for everyone.
Upon arrival at each location, we were greeted by Luster’s event staff who were working hard making sales and passing out samples to customers. During the first stop, we gathered around as Naturally Temi shared her natural hair journey and how she began her YouTube channel. She and Resa B. both shared which products they enjoyed and were eager to help customers choose the right products specific to their own haircare needs. Afterwards, there were plenty of photo-ops.

At the conclusion of the event, we were all encouraged to clear the shelf, courtesy of Luster’s! There were also some amazing giveaways including concert and circus tickets from Radio One. On top of that, we were each gifted a swag bag filled with even more goodies. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’m grateful to Luster’s for their generosity and can’t wait to take out my braids so I can try out the new line!
Have you tried Luster’s new Shea Butter Coconut Oil products yet? If so, how are you enjoying them? Tell me some of your go-to natural hairstyles in the comments.
