February is a short month but that didn’t stop it from being a busy one! I definitely did a lot of ripping and running but I’m pleased to say that it both began and ended on a high note! First off, I linked up with my bestie over dinner and drinks during Philly Restaurant Week, followed by a turn up at Fire and Ice Lounge for another Silent Party.
As you know February is Black History Month. Although it is impossible to reduce all of our history and achievements into one month, I still choose to celebrate, wherever I can. This year, I attended Macy’s Black History Month celebration here in Philly which featured Chef Samuelsson of The Red Rooster Restaurant in Harlem.
Okay, so remember a while back I blogged about #selfcare and different ways I plan to take care of self in 2017? I’m proud to say that I’m off to a good start. Well kinda. Re Let’s Spa advertised a Groupon for a back and foot massage deal for two people just $75. And because your girl is blessed and highly favored, I booked this deal for $63. Let me tell you, it was an experience I’ll never forget!
I always thought that you were supposed to leave the spa feeling better than you did when you walked in, you know like church, but I guess I got the message a little misconstrued! My masseuse went inn on my back okay! Like I was a man or something. No lie, my back was sore for a few days after the fact. It wasn’t all bad though. She did amazing job on my feet. If I return I’ll be sure to tell the masseuse not use so much pressure! Sheesh!
Afterwards, bae and I went out for dinner and drinks at the Reef Caribbean Lounge. It’s located on South Street in Philadelphia and is one of my favorite spots to go for Caribbean cuisine! Some of my favorite dishes are curry chicken, oxtails (below), rice and peas and plantains. The restaurant is located on the first floor and the lounge is upstairs. Ohh, and if you go, you’ve got to try the rum punch!
And finally, I ended my February with a feature post on BEING Young and Twenty blog. Please check it out if you haven’t done so already!
What exciting things did you get into in the month of February? And what are you hoping to accomplish in the month of March?
