Fashion: Ayesha Curry Believes in Leaving Something to the Imagination

Social media has been in a complete frenzy over comments that Ayesha Curry has made, voicing her opinion on the latest fashion trends. She is truly a woman after my own heart because I couldn’t agree with her more. In a series of tweets, the wife to Golden State Warrior Champ Stephen Curry and mother of two adorable girls stated:

Everyone’s into barely wearing clothes these days, huh? Not my style. I like to keep the good stuff covered for the one who matters.”

“Just looking at the latest fashion trends. I’ll take classy over trendy any day of the week. #Saturdaynightinsight”

The fact that anyone could have anything negative to respond is quite mind boggling. It shows just how much of a backwards society we live in, anytime you are scolded for having morals.

Believe it or not, there used to be a time when both men and women, took pride in what they wore. They were more conscious of how they dressed because they knew that upon walking out of the door, they were no longer representing themselves but their families as well. Now we have men who think it’s cool to walk around with their pants hanging off their behind and women who think less is more.

Growing up, my mom was infamous for destroying any and every article of clothing that she considered to be inappropriate. Did I think she was crazy at times, yes but she was causing my sisters and I to set standards for ourselves. I can still remember this one thing she told me as clear as yesterday. “If it’s not for sale, then don’t put it on the market.”

We feel the pressure from an early age. We are taught to dress and act in a certain way to attract a man. If we are not careful we can attract the wrong attention. Now, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a little skin showing as long as it’s tastefully done. But leave something to the imagination!

What are your thoughts?
