Weekend Recap~Miss Tootsie’s Soulfood Restaurant

Hello lovelies!

Hope you had a good weekend! In continued celebration of my birthday, I went out this past weekend to a soul food restaurant called Miss Tootsie’s, here in Philly. This South Street staple is known for its award winning fried chicken, complimentary corn muffins with a sweet combo of butter and jam spread as well as other southern styled dishes.

I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp and Grits with a side of macaroni and cheese and collard greens. De-li-scious! The shrimp had a nice crunch and was seasoned very well. The macaroni was to die for and the collard greens were almost as good as my grandmother’s.

The food was so good it almost put me to sleep!

I planned to wear one of the dresses purchased in my recent haul but ended up buying another dress anyway! Oh well! No such thing as too many!

Had to check out the back side!

The dim lighting and Neo-Soul music echoing throughout made this a very grown and sexy atmosphere. I also loved the chic décor. I’d recommend this spot to anyone for a date night, ladies night or anyone that appreciates southern cooking! My only warning would be that for whatever reason, they don’t accept reservations so you may have a lengthy wait. It’ll be worth it though! Also, the bathrooms are unisex, meaning ladies, a man could be in the stall next to you and vice versa. The stalls give you total privacy but it might be a bit weird if you’ve never experienced that before. Just a heads up!

What are some of your go to soul food spots?
